As part of International Women's Day celebrations, Jokkolabs Banjul hosted an event in collaboration with SHOAW Gambia with the theme "Be Bold for Change" marking the day. THe event focused on the onling and in person harassment of girls in the community.
Our CEO and Founder Anna Anet Sambou was among the guests invited to speak about what they do, how girls can get involved, and the resources available to them to keep themselves safe and refrain from bulling both online and in person.
Following the discussion, there was a breakout session and students were didvided into groups and paired with a mentor to help them create lists of what they can do to keep themselves safe both online and in person after which each group shared their list in a short presentation for all to gain key take away messages to ensure they are better equipped to handle all forms of harassment and can share these messages with their friends and families.
The event ended with SHOAW Gambia's bake sale raising money for our boot camps on adolescent reproductive health to promote quality health and improve the living conditions of women and girls up country.
