Last week our Program Development Officer (Rameesha Qazi) and Project Coordinator (Malen Jobe) presented at the Ministry of Education, Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) CCM’s Education Forum on invitation from Ms. Tida Jatta Jarjou – Director Basic and Secondary Education Directorate (MoBSE). We were able to share the success of SHOAW so far and our plans for the future. We hope to continue our work with them to make Gambia’s online community a safe one for all, especially young girls.
During this presentation we highlighted a very special project we have been working on which is a report for GIS Watch that is to be presented at the global IGF in Germany later this year. This report looks at how AI can be used to protect women and girls while they are online from harassment. We are very excited to share the report when it is done and what we have found from our field research, along with next steps for stakeholders from around the world to make this vision a reality.
We are extremely grateful for the support of the ministry on this project and on the potential future partnerships we have discussed with them.
